OLM Community Prepares for Christmas with Song, Service and Saint Nick
The season of Advent at OLM School has always been filled with joyful traditions and this year was no exception. Beginning with the Feast of St. Nicholas on Monday, December 1, the students in all grades were visited not only by St. Nick himself, but he left them treats in their shoes that had been left in the hallways after they returned from attending the Mass for the Feast of the Immaculate Conception.
Throughout Advent, two collections were taking place, including the Adopt a Family Program at McAuley Ministries and a Toys for Tots collection which resulted in over 300 books, games and toys being collected for local families in need. The choir lent their talents to bring joy to the seniors in the neighborhood when they performed at Anchor Bay Assisted Living in East Greenwich to the delight of many residents.
The OLM Christmas Bazaar saw nearly 20 students and parents setting up tables and selling their hand-crafted wares to the delight of the dozens of attendees on Saturday, December 13. Former OLM Parent turned Author (and EG First Grade Teacher) Carrie Simonetti visited Grade 1 for a special reading of her new book Kringle the Christmas Caterpillar.
The annual OLM Christmas Pageant on Friday, December 12 featured over 250 students in all grades from PreK4-8 performing Christmas selections and a living nativity under the guidance of OLM Music Teacher Shirley Medici. The OLM Band, directed by Jack Rametta, also performed.
The final day of school for 2025, Friday, Dec. 20 featured the annual Middle School Breakfast with students in Grades 6-8 enjoying a delicious breakfast provided by Wild Harvest and served by Parent Volunteers. Students in Grades PreK3, PreK4 and K had special Polar Express themed celebrations. A Christmas Prayer service before dismissal sent the students off on Christmas Break.
