OUR LADY OF MERCY CELEBRATES FEAST WEEK SEPTEMBER 20-24TH

The Our Lady of Mercy Community celebrated a wonderful Feast Week from September 20th through September 24th.

The week kicked off with the Saints and Scholars Open Golf Tournament, benefiting Our Lady of Mercy School and including 132 golfers as well as sponsors such as Washington Trust Bank, the Murphy Family of RI Home Loan Investment Bank, and the Rutherford Family of Ocean State Signal. The week continued with a Holy Hour of Mercy on Wednesday, an Act of Mercy on Thursday and a Feast Day Mass on Friday, celebrated by Bishop Robert Evans, Auxiliary Bishop of the Diocese of Providence, with the homily preached by Fr. James Sullivan, O.P, pastor of St. Pius V Parish in Providence.

The week concluded with the annual Oktoberfest celebration, where families, friends, and parishioners enjoyed German food and drink together, under a tent on the field. Lucky winners of the “See You In September” raffle included Kate Jelinek, Denise Solomon, John Ponte and Grand Prize winner, Jerry O’Connell.

Upon reflection of the week’s events, Fr. Healey wrote to the community: “Of course, none of these events takes place without the tremendous help of our parish volunteers and parish staff.  We thank the many people behind the scenes who generously give their time and talent in service to our parish.  Also, I am grateful to our dedicated parish staff, who always provide their all in service to the parish.”

It was a week that gave due honor to Our Lady and that brought the OLM Community together once again.  Our Lady of Mercy, pray for us!
