OLM Girls 7th/8th Grade Team Advances to State CAL Championship
The OLM Girls’ 7th/8th Grade School Team has advanced to the Catholic Athletic League (CAL) State Championship this Saturday, March 24 at St. Mary’s Academy BayView at 10:30 a.m. OLM will face Monsignor Clarke School in the title game of the Grammar D2 Division. OLM defeated Immaculate Conception (Cranston) in the semifinals last Saturday, March 17 while Monsignor Clarke earned its spot with a victory over Blessed Sacrament. With an 11-0 regular season record, the OLM girls team features three eighth graders and 7 seventh graders, all students at OLM school.
This season, four of OLM’s 10 eligible teams qualified for playoffs. The OLM Boys Junior Division 1 Parish team (6th grade) lost in the first round to top ranked St. Augustine. The OLM Boys Grammar D2 (7th grade ) had a first round bye and was eliminated in the semifinal against St. Peter’s. Finally, the OLM Boys grammar D1 (8th grade) beat Good Shepherd in the opening round and was defeated by St. Philomena in the semi finals last Saturday.
