OLM School Celebrates Grandparents Day
Students and Staff Welcomed nearly 320 visitors for 11th annual event
On Thursday, May 14, OLM School and Parish welcomed close to 320 grandparents for the school’s 11th annual “Grandparents Day” celebration. Grandparents began arriving at the school as early as 8:30 a.m. with palpable enthusiasm. A well-planned schedule that rotated visitors into the school according to grade level allowed grandparents and special guests to visit with their grandchildren in their classrooms, meeting teachers and friends and sharing in creative presentations, games and activities.
The highlight of the day was 10:00 a.m. Mass at OLM Church, which was celebrated by Associate Pastor Father Joseph Brodeur, and marked the Feast of the Ascension of our Lord. Following the Mass, the students and their guests were treated to a variety of refreshments, snacks and coffee. Fifth grade teacher, Mrs. Jennifer Nygren, has chaired the Grandparents’ Day committee along with a dedicated group of volunteer parents since its inception.
