OLM Second Graders Make Baby Blankets for St. Gabriel’s Call
The students in Ms. Jean Perretta’s second grade class at OLM school are learning powerful lessons in generosity and kindness as they prepare to receive the sacraments of First Holy Communion and First Penance this spring. During Catholic Schools’ Week, the students all worked together to create warm blankets to be donated to St. Gabriel’s Call and today, they were able to hear more about the power of their kindness. Lisa Cooley, Director of the Office of Life and Family Ministry at the Diocese and St. Gabriel’s Call, visited the classroom and gratefully received the blankets and other baby items that had been donated by the students and their families. She assured the students that the need is great, and their generosity is deeply appreciated by the moms and babies in need. According to the Diocese of Providence’s website, St. Gabriel’s Call is a ministry that reaches out to women who are pregnant, desperate, and in need of assistance through a confidential intervention program.
